I have decided to use corded button loops with covered buttons as a fastening technique in my final piece.
Here are some useful links to aid me with the technique.

Tassels in 1950

1950s Compact

Coco Chanel first designed the double chain belt in 1956 and ever since it has been a Chanel trademark.

Pom Poms in Current Fashion

As seen in collections from Chanel to House of Holland, pom poms are set to be a big trend through to Summer 2011.

As pom poms were a trend in the 1950s too, I think they would be a great technique to use in my final piece.

Inspiration

1950s Inspiration for Detachable Adornments

As I'm hoping to adorn my final piece with detachable bits and bobs I thought it would be a good idea to stop looking at current fashions for a while and look back the 1950s.
Although I will be creating a fashion garment or the present day I still need to take most of my inspiration from the 1950s.
So i trawled the internet and this is what I found:

Pom Poms
1950s Rabbit fur pom pom necklace
1950s pom pom sweater

Angora knitted hat and pom poms

A fair isle cap and mitts with pom-poms

Fur
1950s fur hat with pom pom

Covered Buttons

Lace

Fringing

Could this be classed as fringing? (from myvintagevogue.com)
