It is important for designers to reinvent, when looking to the past for inspiration, rather than simply copying the fashions of the past. Louis Vuitton's current Autumn/ Winter collection does this perfectly. The traditional 1950's inspired shapes are updated by his use of unconventional fabrics, for example, full leather skirts and modern details such as trailing waist belts.
